Men's Meeting

Luke Keefer, professor of church history and theology at Ashland Theological Seminary (Ashland, Ohio), spoke to the men's fellowship group on the theme "Church and State in the Bible and in Experience." Dr. Keefer stated that the Bible was not given as a theory of government, but as a guide for living as God's people. He discussed the progressive revelation of Jesus Christ in the New Testament, and then, noting the Sermon on the Mount, Keefer declared that the final word is Jesus.

"Why then would I want to go backward to the Old Testament for my direction?" he asked, "If Christ is the best, why would I go to less?" Kingdom theology is built on Jesus. Redemption, not citizenship is what matters most.
